Locations and Bins are the two features in Qwix that define the “where” in equation of stock. We utilise several properties that define these Bins. To understand how Qwix manages stock, you have to understand how Locations and Bins are defined. We will define the core properties of them in the information below
In Qwix, Locations are the logical/physical placeholders for bins. We typically use Locations to map out individual warehouses, and areas within warehouses. What makes Locations special is that we can define them in a hierarchical structure. This allows us to put locations within other locations. This structure can be as simple or as complex as required. Locations are used as the holders of Bins. They are also used when traversing stock searches to find appropriate stock. Locations are often used as filter criteria for these searches.

Bins are the workhorses for the locality in Qwix. They are the only attributes that define where stock is located. To achieve this, we can assign several properties to bins. The sum of these properties defines how bins are used within the system.
